About the role
Northfield is looking for a Lead Product Designer to set the design direction for our core product and grow a small, senior design team. You'll partner directly with the VP of Product and engineering leads to shape how our platform looks, feels, and behaves for over 40,000 daily users.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll spend roughly half your time in the work — flows, prototypes, systems — and half enabling the two designers on your team to do their best work. You'll report to the Head of Design and be based out of our Mumbai studio, with two remote days a week.
What you'll do 05 areas
- Own end-to-end design for major product surfaces, from problem framing through shipped detail.
- Set and maintain the design system used across web and mobile, in partnership with front-end engineering.
- Mentor and review the work of two product designers, running weekly critique.
- Run discovery with users and translate findings into concrete design bets.
- Present design rationale directly to leadership and defend trade-offs with data.
What we're looking for
- 7+ years in product design, including at least 2 years leading or mentoring other designers.
- A portfolio showing systems thinking, not just polished screens.
- Fluency in Figma and comfort prototyping in code when it speeds up a decision.
- Clear written and verbal communication — you'll write the memos, not just the mocks.
